A man remains in custody charged with domestic violence offences allegedly committed shortly before a single-car crash that killed a woman and three boys in the New South Wales Riverina.
Dean Cluney did not appear in person at Griffith Local Court on Thursday and a lawyer for him did not apply for bail.
According to court documents, police allege he broke into the home of a 36-year-old woman in Leeton near Yanco, just after 11:00pm on Tuesday.
About 15 minutes later, police allege, a car travelling on Research Road crashed, killing the same woman and three boys aged 10, 11 and 12.
Police said the occupants died before emergency services arrived at the scene.
Police believe the car landed on its roof in a water channel after crashing into a pole and rolling down an embankment at the intersection of Research Road and Toorak Road.
As part of inquiries officers arrested 32-year-old Mr Cluney and a 50-year-old woman at a unit in nearby Griffith on Wednesday morning.
The woman was later released without charge pending further investigations.
Mr Cluney remains in custody facing charges of stalking and intimidation and aggravated break and enter.
He is due to face court again in June.
