Man arrested after being found with wraps of heroin and a gun

Police have arrested two people after they were found in possession of cocaine and heroin.

Yesterday evening police stopped a 52-year-old man on Royton Road in Waterloo and after being searched he was found to be in possession of Class A drugs and cash. Officers then searched a nearby address and recovered approximately 60 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.

A stun gun was also seized at the address and 36-year-old woman was also arrested both are now in custody waiting to be questioned by detectives.

Operation Pelican is an ongoing police campaign launched in 2017 to combat the drug trade and gang violence in Bootle, Netherton, Litherland and the surrounding areas. It has had several notable successes due to its specific targeting and pursuit of intelligence gathering in the region.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Operation Pelican last night have arrested a 52-year-old male and a 36-year-old female for Drug Supply and Possession of a Section 5 Firearm in the Waterloo area.

"Officers stopped a male on Royton Road, Waterloo and searched him under the Misuse of Drugs Act. During a search a quantity of cash and Class A drugs were recovered. Officers have then attended a nearby address and recovered further drugs (approximately 60 wraps of Crack Cocaine and Heroin), cash and mobile phones.

"Also located within the address was a stun gun which has been seized. The female also present in the address was also arrested. Both remain in custody awaiting questioning by detectives."
