Footage from a brutal doorstep machete attack has been released by detectives after a person was seen running away from the crime scene. Police confirmed in an appeal they want to speak with them.
A man and a woman were attacked with a machete and according to officers the woman, was injured but has now been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home. However the second victim suffered ‘possibly life-changing injuries’, said police, and remains in hospital.
The attack happened outside a home in Atherton, on July 6. The suspect's face can't be seen on the footage released by police, but investigators are hoping someone will recognise him.
He can be seen walking up the road before apparently entering the property then running away after the attack with the machete.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News at the time, residents spoke of a large police and emergency services presence at the scene. One resident said: “It was full of police vans and two ambulance. The police put tape on both sides of the road and there was a helicopter and everything, it was scary.”
