Man appears in court charged with murder of Perth man Cameron Rae

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Perth man Cameron Rae.

Caleb Ferguson, 18, made no plea or declaration during the short private hearing at Perth Sheriff Court earlier today. Ferguson was also charged with assault and remanded in custody.

The Perth teen is expected to appear in court again in the next eight days. Cameron, 20, was found on South Methven Street following an alleged incident at around 9.40pm on Saturday April 8, and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

A 17-year-old man was also arrested by police following the alleged incident at the weekend. He has been released pending further enquiries.

Meanwhile, tributes have been paid to Cameron, who was from the local area, by friends and family on social media.

Relative Kerry Burgess said: "Fly high my boy. We were so proud of you son. I will always love you. My wee cheeky Cammy, you were just a big lump of fun always wanting a carry on."

Sheridan Leslie, a close friend of Cameron, who was also known as Chip, has also paid tribute and said her 'heart was broken'. She added: "He was absolutely harmless and the loveliest friend. It's horrific.

"I just can't wrap my head around it, it's actually broken so many people. Perth won't be the same.

"Everyone knew who Chip was. His poor mum is absolutely broken."

A fundraiser launched to support Cameron's family with funeral costs has raised over £13,000 in the space of one day. The GoFundMe had initially been launched with a £5,000 target.
