A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a 12-year-old boy was struck by a car in Paisley.
The incident took place at around 2pm on Ben Alder Drive near Hawkhead House Farm in the town on Wednesday, October 12. The boy was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following the collision.
Police Scotland confirmed a 68-year-old man had been charged in relation to the incident.
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, swooped on the scene to erect a cordon around the area and launch an investigation into the event.
Photos taken at the scene showed specialist officers and forensic officers in white suits combing the site as they tried to piece together exactly what had happened.
William Stewart appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court today, where he made no plea.
Stewart, of Paisley, was also charged with assault to severe injury and danger of life. He was released on bail with the case committed for further examination by prosecutors.
It is not clear when he is expected back in the dock.
