Man and woman rushed to hospital after three-vehicle crash

A MAN and woman were rushed to hospital after a crash which closed a section of busy road in the East End of Glasgow.

Emergency services responded to the scene on Tollcross Road at the junction with Maukinfauld Road after the alarm was raised at around 2.35pm on Saturday.

The road was closed for several hours following the collision which allegedly involved three vehicles.

Police have now confirmed that a 30-year-old woman, one of the drivers, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man, also one of the drivers, was arrested in connection and taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary to be checked over.

He was then charged in connection with alleged road traffic offences and is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, February 3.
