Two people have been hospitalised in Co Cork after being attacked at their home in Ballincollig by a gang wielding golf clubs and a hammer.
It is understood that the attack was carried out by a group of men, who forced their way into the home at around 1am on Tuesday, August 30.
The occupants of the property, a man in his 60s and women in her 30s were attacked and left with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the incident, the gang fled the scene as the victims were left with multiple injuries. Both were later transferred to Cork University Hospital (CUH) for treatment of their injuries.
The scene in the Innishmore area of Ballincollig was sealed off pending a full technical and forensic examination but no arrests have been made as of yet.
The motive for the attack has not been confirmed at this point, but a garda spokesperson confirmed to the Irish Mirror: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the assault of a man and woman in the course of an incident in Ballincollig, Cork on Tuesday the 30th of August, 2022.
“Shortly before 1 am, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted following reports of an altercation involving a group of males at a house in Innishmore Square, Ballincollig.
“A man (60s) and woman (30s) injured in the course of the incident were removed from the scene by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. Their injuries are understood to be serious but not life-threatening.
“A number of items were recovered by Gardaí outside the property including a golf club and hammer. The scene was preserved overnight and is currently being examined by local Garda scenes of crime officers.
“An investigation into all of the circumstances of this incident is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.”
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and in particular, to those who were in the Innishmore Square area shortly before 1am this morning to come forward.
