Man allegedly assaulted with hockey stick in unprovoked attack

A man is accused of entering another man's bedroom, hitting him with a hockey stick and threatening to kill him in what police described as an unprovoked attack.

The alleged attacker, Kyle Martin Hiscox, 35, faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday, accused of assaulting the alleged victim in a McKellar home last week.

Hiscox is yet to enter pleas to four counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and single counts of common assault, reckless threat to kill, and contravening a court order.

He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.

Police allege about 8.40pm last Tuesday the 35-year-old entered the other man's bedroom carrying a wooden hockey stick.

At this time, Hiscox allegedly began hitting the man repeatedly with the hockey stick and threatened to kill him, making demands.

The man is said to have sustained serious injuries as a result of the assault.

On Monday, police searched the Hiscox's home in McKellar and claim to have found three wooden hockey sticks, a machete, 12 rounds of ammunition, and two shotgun shells.

The alleged attacker is set to face court again in September.
