A man has been rushed to hospital by an emergency helicopter after an incident on Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh.
Coastguard crews scrambled to the hill's 251-meter cliff face after receiving the alarm at 5pm this evening, Monday March 28.
Images shared on social media show people in distress in the midst of the rescue operation.
Multiple helicopters could be heard at the scene as the coastguard dealt with the second incident of its nature in a matter of weeks.
Witnesses reported that those in attendance appear to be rescuing a few people that have fallen while walking up the hill.
The Coastguard has also confirmed that one man was winched from the area and taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
His current condition is unknown.
Users on Twitter were quick to spot the ongoing incident, one saying: "Serious helicopter activity around Arthur's Seat again. It's not landing, so they must be searching for someone or something."
Another added: "See another rescue helicopter circling Holyrood/Arthur's Seat/ That is the second one in two weeks. Hope it's not drunk people falling over, I have seen that happen."
A spokesperson from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency told Edinburgh Live: "The Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick has been assisting the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with an incident on Arthur’s Seat.
"I can confirm that the helicopter winched one man from the hill and transported him to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary."
The Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland have also been approached for comment.
