Man airlifted to hospital after horror crash on the A9

A man has been airlifted to hospital after a three-car crash on the A9.

Emergency services were called at around 1.35pm on Friday, August 26, to reports of a serious smash involving multiple vehicles.

Police Scotland have confirmed the road traffic incident occurred on the A9 at the A889 junction near Dalwhinnie.

One man was seriously injured and had to be flown by air ambulance to hospital.

A woman also received treatment at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services are in attendance following a three-vehicle crash on the A9 at the A889 junction near Dalwhinnie which was reported around 1.35pm on Friday, 26 August, 2022.

“One man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance and one woman is receiving treatment at the scene.

“The road is closed in both directions and local diversions are in place for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.”
