One man was taken to hospital by air ambulance after suffering burns following a house fire, the fire service has said. Crews were called to a property in the Brookside area of Cwmbran in Torfaen during the afternoon of Saturday, November 12 after a fire broke out on the first floor of a property, South Wales Fire and Rescue said.
Crews from Cwmbran, Malpas, and New Inn were sent in response to the incident. A spokesperson said: "On attendance, crews were met with a sever fire in the first floor of a terraced property. Crews with breathing apparatus entered the property and quickly brought the fire under control."
The spokesperson added that crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading beyond the first floor of the property. A male casualty was taken to hospital by air ambulance after suffering burn injuries following the incident.
The fire service said a fire investigation is being carried out at the property and advised communities to have an escape plan in the event of a fire and to test smoke alarms.
