Gardai have confirmed the death of a man in his 80s after he was struck by a car in Co Louth last night, Tuesday, May 30.
The tragic accident occurred shortly before 8pm in the Annagassan area of Lynns, with a pedestrian suffering fatal injuries in the collision. The driver of the car was uninjured.
The pedestrian's body was taken from the scene to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where a post-mortem is set to take place.

The scene where the collision took place on the R166 (Castlebellingham to Annagassan Road) remains closed this morning as Garda forensic collision investigators conduct a full technical examination, with local diversions in place for motorists.
This morning, May 31, Gardai have issued an appeal for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Annagassan area between 7.30pm and 8.00pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Drogheda Garda station on 041 987 4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
