A man has admitted murdering his wife after she was found dead in a flat in Birkenhead.
Karen Wheeler's body was discovered in her home on Vittoria Court on Thursday, May 12. Police were called to the scene at around 7.15pm after reports of concern for the 62-year-old's welfare.
Her husband Mark Wheeler, of Vittoria Close, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court this morning, Thursday, via video link to HMP Altcourse. The 52-year-old spoke to confirm his name and date of birth before pleading guilty to Mrs Wheeler's murder.

He will return to the court for sentence on Friday, October 28, and has been remanded into custody until that date. Judge Denis Watson QC said: "There is only one sentence that can be passed for the offence of murder, which is a sentence of life imprisonment.
"That is the sentence that will be passed on that day. I have to assess the minimum term before which you can be considered for parole."
