A man charged with the Christmas Day stabbing murder of a 52-year-old mother-of-two at a Hobart home has changed his plea to guilty.
Darren Mark Wake appeared in the Supreme Court of Tasmania on Monday, admitting the murder of midwife Rachel Wake on December 25, 2021.
The charge stated Wake stabbed Ms Wake multiple times with a knife at a house in the suburb of Mornington.
"I'm guilty Your Honour," Wake said after being read details of the charge.
Wake, who was charged a day after the murder, pleaded not guilty in October last year.
He is expected to next appear in court in February for a hearing over certain disputed facts, with a sentencing date to be determined.
More than $100,000 was raised for Ms Wake's children via an online fundraising page set up by one of her colleagues.
She was described as a popular and caring midwife and a loyal friend to many.
