A man hunt is under way after a suspected bikie was accused of shooting at another driver in an alleged Gold Coast road rage attack.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Oxenford man Saleh Atasoy, 37, who police believe is a member of the Lone Wolf outlaw motorcycle gang.
Police are looking for Atasoy who is accused of firing a handgun at a 53-year-old man driving a Ford Ranger on a busy Gold Coast road on Friday afternoon.
Police said the 53-year-old's attention was drawn to another vehicle - an Isuzu D-Max ute - being driven erratically on Nerang-Broadbeach Road before cutting in front of him at a roundabout.
He told police the ute's passenger window was down and he could see the driver was the sole occupant.
"He (Atasoy) was extremely agitated," Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Garrett told reporters.
"They exchanged heated words.
"However, during that the driver of the D-Max produced what was believed to be a handgun and pointed it directly at the driver of the other vehicle."
Atasoy is accused of shooting at the Ford Ranger, with police later locating a single bullet hole in the vehicle's rear driver's side door.
No one was injured.
There was a "bit of cat and mouse" as the two vehicles continued along the road while the 53-year-old called triple-0.
Atasoy is then accused of performing a sudden U-turn, cutting off traffic before driving away.
"Understandably the victim is shaken by the incident and we acknowledge his bravery in speaking with the police," Det Sen Sgt Garrett said.
Police later located the ute nearby, with CCTV footage indicating Atasoy fled the vehicle on foot.
The handgun has not been found.
"Members of the public are warned that this man is armed and is considered to be dangerous," a police statement said.
At the time Atasoy is believed to have been wearing an ankle monitor in relation to other matters but it has been deactivated and possibly removed, police said.
"He's well known to police and we'd like to locate and apprehend him as soon as possible," Det Sen Sgt Garrett said.
"We would appeal directly to Mr Atasoy to make contact with his lawyers or police and arrange handing himself in.
"At the end of the day it was a stupid and dangerous act and he needs to face those consequences."
People are urged to report any sightings to police by calling triple-0.
Anyone with dashcam footage or information have also been asked to contact authorities.
"Luckily in this instance no one was hurt," Det Sen Sgt Garrett said.
"But obviously....discharging a firearm at a vehicle on the road in heavy traffic is extremely dangerous."
