A man accused of pushing a woman into a New York City subway train seemingly said that "voices" may have been the reason for the random attack.
As Markeese Brazelis, 26, was being put into the back of a police car Monday evening, a PIX11 reporter asked the man, "Why would you push someone in front of a train?"
"Voices," Brazelis responded simply.
The 26-year-old is accused of pushing a woman into a subway train Monday morning as it was pulling into a station in Washington Heights. Police said the woman sustained bruising after smacking the side of the train and falling back onto the platform, as reported by FOX 5. She is expected to make a full recovery.
Brazelis has been charged with assault and reckless endangerment.
Several other instances of people being pushed onto subway tracks have made headlines in recent months. In September 2024, a 62-year-old woman was allegedly pushed onto the tracks after she did not answer a question about having a lighter, as reported by CBS News.
Later in October, an 82-year-old woman sustained a minor head injury after allegedly being pushed onto the tracks, FOX 5 reported.
A New York man recently spoke out about surviving being pushed in front of a train in December. Joe Lynskey, 45, sustained a fractured skull and broken ribs, but told ABC News that he thought he was "going to die" at the time of the attack.
