Man Accused Of Poisoning Wife And Daughter With Eyedrops

A North Carolina man previously charged with murdering his wife using eyedrops in 2018 is now facing new allegations of attempting to poison his daughter with the same method. Joshua Hunsucker, 39, allegedly administered the substance to his then-10-year-old daughter in February 2023, five years after the death of his wife, Stacy Hunsucker.

Prosecutors claim that the poisoning of the child, which resulted in her hospitalization, was intended to frame his wife's parents, John and Susie Robinson, in Stacy's death. Hunsucker had allegedly killed his wife by administering eyedrops containing the chemical tetrahydrozoline and then falsely reported her cause of death to collect a $250,000 life insurance policy.

Investigators discovered the poisoning after suspicions arose regarding Stacy's death. It was revealed that Hunsucker had been putting eyedrops in her drinks over an extended period, ultimately leading to her demise. A witness reported that Hunsucker had previously mentioned using eyedrops if he were to ever harm someone.

Hunsucker was initially arrested in December 2019 on first-degree murder charges but was released on a $1.5 million bond pending trial. However, he was recently brought back to court to address the new accusations against him, leading to the revocation of his bail package.

In addition to the poisoning incident, Hunsucker is facing charges of witness intimidation for allegedly harassing the Robinsons, who are key witnesses in the case against him. He has made false claims against them, including allegations of assault and kidnapping, and engaged in various intimidating behaviors towards them.

Prosecutors expressed concerns about the safety of Hunsucker's children and the Robinsons, stating that they believe his dangerous actions may escalate further. As a result, Hunsucker is currently in custody as the legal proceedings continue.
