Man, 75, rushed to hospital in 'serious' condition after being hit by car on Scots road

A pensioner has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in the Highlands on Sunday evening.

The incident took place around 5.10pm on Sunday November 13. Police Scotland received a report of a crash involving a light blue Citreon C1 and the pedestrian on Old Perth Road in Inverness.

Paramedics attended and the 75-year-old was taken to Raigmore Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as 'serious but stable.' Police said the female driver of the car was not injured.

The road was closed for around seven hours to allow investigations to be carried out and diversions were in place.

Sergeant Calum MacAuley said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw the crash to contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone with a dash cam which may hold images that could assist us to get in touch.”

Duncan Macpherson, who represents the Inverness South ward as an independent councillor, said on Facebook: "According to police officers at the scene [the accident took place] around the Culcabock Roundabout area close to the Shell Filling Station at Kingswell, 36 Old Perth Road, Inverness.

"The roads are closed as they are carrying out crash investigations to determine the cause of a road traffic collision earlier this evening between a car and a pedestrian on Sunday evening."
