A man has sadly died after being hit by a car in Morpeth.
At around 8.45pm yesterday (April 5) police were called by the North East Ambulance Service to a collision between a car and a pedestrian on the A196. Officers attended the scene and the male pedestrian, aged 75, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Today, police have confirmed that the man has now sadly died. His family have been notified and are currently being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist police with enquiries and an investigation has now been launched.
Officers are asking anyone who might have seen what happened or have dashcam footage from the area, to get in touch.
Sergeant Seve Armstrong, from Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols department, said: “This is a very sad outcome and our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.
“Our investigation is underway and we are working hard to establish exactly what has happened. We’ve spoken with the driver and a number of witnesses so far, but if anyone else is able to help, please contact us.
