Man, 70s, killed in late-night road traffic collision in Meath

A man died late last night following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Co Meath.

Emergency services attended the scene of an accident involving one vehicle and discovered a man in his 70s, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragic incident occurred at Prioryland in Duleek, and the road remains closed this morning to allow Forensic Collision Investigators to examine the scene. Diversions are in place for local traffic.

A Garda spokesperson told The Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision involving a car that occurred at approximately 11:30pm on Thursday 25th May 2023 at Prioryland, Duleek, County Meath.

"An occupant of the vehicle, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The road at Prioryland remains closed this morning pending an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Prioryland area between 11pm and 11:45pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ashbourne Garda station on 01 801 0600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
