A 60-year-old man has tragically died after falling at an embankment by the river Ayr.
A huge emergency response saw police, fire crews and ambulances race to the scene near to Holmston Road yesterday afternoon around 2.05pm.
The man was recovered from the water but sadly he was subsequently pronounced dead.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a man having fallen at an embankment by the River Ayr, off Holmston Road in Ayr around 2.05pm on Thursday, 5 May.
“Emergency services attended and the 60-year-old man was recovered but was subsequently pronounced dead.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Scottish Fire and Rescue service told how they sent water rescue teams to the embankment and hauled out two people from the river, a man and woman.
An air ambulance landed at nearby Kyle Academy during the incident.
The Scottish Ambulance Service was contacted but have yet to respond.
