Man, 57, charged with murder of woman, 58, 'he knew' at Croydon home, Scotland Yard confirm

A man was charged on Monday after a woman was found dead at a home in south London, the Metropolitan Police have said.

Sarah Reynolds, 58, was found dead at the property on Towpath Way in Selhurst, Croydon at 4.55am on Saturday, April 12.

Earlston Bennet, 57, has since been arrested and charged in connection to her death. It is believed that the pair both knew each other.

Mr Bennet was remanded in custody over the alleged murder and is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon.

The woman’s next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, Scotland Yard said.

A spokesman for the force added: “It is believed Bennet was known to Sarah and detectives are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

“Detectives continue their work to build a picture of Sarah’s life in the weeks leading up to her death.

“They are keen to speak with anyone who interacted with, or saw Sarah in recent weeks. “
