Man, 51, arrested after 80 wraps of cocaine found

A man has been arrested after being found with 80 wraps of cocaine during a drug bust in Waterloo last night.

A man, 51, was spotted by officers carrying out a drug transaction with a pedestrian, the vehicle was then stopped by officers. Police then searched a nearby property where further drugs and £1100 in cash were also found. The man who is from the Walton area is now in custody.

The seizures are the work of a special police team targeting criminals on the streets of South Sefton. Operation Pelican was set up in 2017 to disrupt gangs causing misery through drug dealing and shootings in Bootle, Netherton, Litherland, and neighboring communities.

In a post on Facebook, officers said: "Operation Pelican have this evening arrested a 51-year-old male from the #Walton area for Drug Supply Offences.

"Officers have sighted a drugs transaction in the #Waterloo area between a pedestrian and the driver of a vehicle. The vehicle was stopped a short distance away and the driver was found in possession of numerous wraps of suspected Cocaine.

"A search of a nearby property has then taken place and further drugs and cash have been recovered. In total approximately 80 wraps of Cocaine and £1100 in cash has been recovered. The male remains in custody for questioning by detectives".
