Man, 50s, arrested after Gardai seize €210,000 worth of suspected cocaine following Limerick house raid

A man has been arrested after Gardai seized more than €210,000 worth of suspected cocaine and cash following a raid on a house in Limerick today.

Cops from Limerick's Divisional Drugs Unit found the stash after searching a house in St Mary's Park at around 2:30pm today.

Gardai discovered 3.1kgs of suspected cocaine at the scene.

The substance will be analysed by Forensic Science Ireland.

A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and is being quizzed under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Henry Street Garda Station.

A spokesman said: "Gardai have seized over €210,000 worth of suspected cocaine and a large quantity of cash following a search operation at a house in Limerick, today Monday 21st November 2022.

"At approximately 2.30pm today, Gardai attached to the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit at Henry Street Garda Station conducted a search under warrant at a house in St. Mary's Park, Limerick.

"During the course of the search, 3.1kg of suspected cocaine was seized with a street value of over €210,000. A large quantity of cash was also seized. The drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

"One male (aged in his 50s) was arrested at the scene and taken to Henry Street Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

"Investigations are ongoing."
