Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed on the Central Coast following a reported road rage incident.

Emergency services were called to James Russell Drive at Kariong about 8pm on November 14, following reports of an assault.

Police were told a 42-year-old man was assaulted by two men following a road rage incident, and that one of the men pulled out a knife and stabbed the 42-year-old in the abdomen.

The two men left in what is believed to be a blue Commodore sedan before police arrived.

The injured man managed to drive in his car to a nearby residence, before collapsing.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being conveyed by ambulance under police escort to Gosford hospital in a critical condition.

As inquiries into the incident are ongoing, police are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam vision in the vicinity of the M1 or James Russell Drive at Kariong, to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
