Police and SafeWork SA are investigating after a man was found dead in an electrical pit in Adelaide's north-east.

Emergency services were called to the scene on North East Road at Walkerville about 9:30am, after the man was found unresponsive at the townhouse construction site.

Police say the 39-year-old from Seaford died at the scene and there were no suspicious circumstances.

He was an electrician who had been working on a meter box at the site, run by Metricon Homes.

The southbound lane of North East Road was closed between Ascot Avenue and St Andrews Street for some of this morning.

In a separate incident, the SA Ambulance Service said a 46-year-old man suffered an electric shock in Kilburn while using a pressure washer.

Paramedics attended the scene, with the patient experiencing toe-tingling.
