A newlywed was diagnosed with an "incurable" brain tumour just 10 months after his wedding.
Chris Brooks, 36, was given the devastating diagnosis in June that he had an incurable brain tumour and needed to have surgery as soon as possible.
The father-of-three had an operation in July to remove most of the tumour, but doctors still said he has about 12 to 18 months left to live.
Wife Kristy has since found two top Neuro-oncologists in the US and London, who told her about a new immunotherapy treatment at a clinic called Cegat in Germany.
The treatment, which targets the DNA of the tumour, costs around £50,000, CambridgeshireLive reports.
Furthermore, they needed an additional £10,000 for regular travel to Germany and travel insurance.
Kelly Elder, Kristy's sister, has set up a GoFundMe to raise money for the treatment.
Kirsty has said she was "heartbroken" when she heard her husband's prognosis and has said there isn't a day that's gone by "where there haven't been tears".
She said Chris' condition was worrying from the beginning, describing how he had been experiencing severe headaches for months before.
One time, she explained, they went for a walk to find Chris was experiencing "double vision", on another occasion his leg was left oddly numb for minutes.
Kirsty said that the prognosis has "completely turned [the family's] life upside down".
He is receiving radiation therapy at the minute, which means a three-hour round trip to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for the family.
She said: "We're taking every day as it comes, but we're having to juggle work, researching treatment options, so soon after we got married it's a crazy new reality we've had to accept."
The GoFundMe page, set up by Kelly, has so far raised more than £10,000.
Kelly said: “I’m looking after my niece a lot, I'm trying to protect all of them but and trying to remain positive at the same time, I don’t want them to be upset, I don’t want them to see us upset".
