Man, 35, who died in tragic crash that shut major road for hours is named

A biker who died in a crash in Tameside has been named as 35-year-old Joseph Booth. The fatal incident occurred on Mottram Moor in Mottram on the evening of May 8.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a black motorcycle at around 10.15pm. Mr Booth was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the tragic incident, the road was closed overnight as police carried out their enquiries. The road was closed overnight before reopening shortly after 8.30am the next morning.

Greater Manchester Police are continuing their enquiries and asking for anyone with any information to come forward. A date for an inquest into Mr Booth’s death has not yet been set.

Police have said their thoughts are with Mr Booth’s family as they have vowed to do 'all they can to get the family the answers they need'. Speaking after the incident, a police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a report of a road traffic collision involving a black motorcycle on Mottram Moor in Mottram. Emergency services attended and a 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene."

PC Phillip Collingwood, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family who are understandably devastated at the loss of their loved one and we’re doing all we can to get the family the answers they need. I would ask anyone with information or anyone who may have seen the black motorcycle prior to the collision to get in touch.”
