Man, 29, arrested as cash and cocaine found stashed in BMW on the motorway

A 29 year old man was arrested following a stop check by police on the M56.

The man, from Great Sutton in Ellesmere Port, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs (cocaine) after police found a "quantity" of drugs and cash in a BMW he was driving. The officers had been performing a "regular patrol" of the M56 in Cheshire at around 9am yesterday (Wednesday, September 14) when they performed a stop-check on the vehicle, discovering the items.

They also seized the BMW during the incident. Following the arrest police then performed a search of an address in Ellesmere Port, and recovered items including clothing, electrical goods and homeware items which they believe to be stolen.

The man has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries. A police investigation is currently underway in relation to the items to establish the full circumstances.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "Officers performing a stop check on a vehicle on the M56 in Cheshire have recovered a quantity of cash and drugs. At around 9am on Wednesday 14 September, officers on regular patrol were on the M56 travelling towards Ellesmere Port when a stop check was performed on a BMW.

"The driver of the car, a 29-year-old man from Great Sutton was arrested on drugs (cocaine).He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

"A quantity of drugs and cash were recovered from the BMW which has also been seized. Following the arrest, officers searched an address in the Ellesmere Port area and recovered what are believed to be stolen items including clothing, electrical goods and homeware items.

"Police are now making enquiries in relation to the items to establish the full circumstances."
