A number of residents in the village reported they had heard a fight occurred outside the pub and the area had been cordoned off by police.

The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said they were called to the scene just before 10.45pm on Saturday. A spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a male injured in Hill Street, Corbridge, at 22:43pm last night. We dispatched one ambulance crew, a specialist paramedic and a doctor, and transported one patient to hospital for further treatment."

Detective Inspector Sally-Ann Palace, of Northumbria Police, is appealing to the public for information. She said: "Our investigation is well underway as we look to understand the full circumstances around what has happened. We know this is a busy location and we expect there to have been several witnesses to the assault.

"Therefore, I am now asking anybody who was in that area at that time on Saturday night and has information and has not yet spoken to police to get in touch. If you think you may know any information that can assist our investigation, please contact us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the force via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of their website or by calling 101 quoting log NP-20220521-1408.
