A man was rushed to hospital after being violently attacked in Paisley at the weekend.
The 27-year-old was attacked in the town's Gilmour Street around 12.30am on Sunday morning, sparking a hunt for the person responsible.
Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Police Division detectives investigating the incident have issued an appeal for information from the public as they work to identify the assailant.
They have described the suspect as being a white man with dark hair. He was said to be wearing a black hooded top, black shorts and black trainers. He was also carrying a drawstring bag.
Detective Constable Kate Wason, from Paisley CID, said: "Enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have information that could assist officers.
"We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has dash-cam footage, to get in touch.”
