Man, 24, arrested as police looking for gun find CROSSBOW

Police hunting a man with a gun found an entirely different weapon as emergency services swarmed onto a busy Stockport road. Officers rushed out to Adswood Road after receiving a report about a man with a gun at a property along the bustling street shortly before 3.10pm on Tuesday (March 29).

Greater Manchester Police says officers did not find a gun at the property, but they instead seized a crossbow from the address. A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in police custody today (Wednesday). Eyewitnesses reported seeing a huge emergency services presence in the area for around a couple of hours.

"Officers attended and a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray. He remains in custody at this time.

"A crossbow was found and seized. No gun was found. Enquiries are ongoing."
