Police hunting a man with a gun found an entirely different weapon as emergency services swarmed onto a busy Stockport road. Officers rushed out to Adswood Road after receiving a report about a man with a gun at a property along the bustling street shortly before 3.10pm on Tuesday (March 29).
Greater Manchester Police says officers did not find a gun at the property, but they instead seized a crossbow from the address. A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in police custody today (Wednesday). Eyewitnesses reported seeing a huge emergency services presence in the area for around a couple of hours.

Several police cars were spotted along with an ambulance. It's not believed anyone was taken to hospital following the incident.
North West Ambulance Service confirmed it was called out at 3.49pm to support a police incident. GMP says enquiries are ongoing.
A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a report of a man with a gun at an address on Adswood Road in Stockport just before 3.10pm yesterday (March 29, 2022).
"Officers attended and a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray. He remains in custody at this time.
"A crossbow was found and seized. No gun was found. Enquiries are ongoing."
