A man has been arrested after a string of four terrifying sex attacks on minors in Greenwich borough.
A 24-year-old was arrested on Friday on suspicion of sexual assault.
He was bailed to return on a date in early March pending further enquiries.
Police believe the four sexual assaults may be linked after all the incidents were reported to have taken place within the SE28 postcode in just over a month.
In the first reported incident on December 16, a 13-year-old girl was followed off the Route 229 bus on the junction of Crossway with Hoveton Road in Thamesmead.
He sexually touched her before running away when the victim screamed.
On January 12, a 16-year-old girl was walking down nearby Poplar Place when a man asked her for directions.
He pushed her against a wall and sexually touched her before she screamed and was able to run away.
Just a day later, a 17-year-old girl was followed off the Route 422 bus by a man at Artillery Place in Woolwich.
The man followed her into a nearby property.
He grabbed her leg, causing her to fall, and then sexually touched her as she lay on the ground. He ran from the scene when she shouted for help.
Then on January 18, a man approached a 16-year-old girl for directions before sexually touching her on Kentlea Road, Thamesmead, before she was able to get away.
Detective Inspector John Millward, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our investigation is progressing but we would continue to ask members of the public to remain vigilant.
“You will continue to see extra officers in our open spaces.”
DI Millward urged anyone with information about the incidents to contact police by calling 101, reference 2916/21JAN22 or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
