A man in his mid-20s is fighting for his life after he was stabbed in Cork city centre this evening.
The incident took place on Grand Parade at around 7.30pm on Wednesday. He was rushed to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as "critical".
It is understood a suspect was seen fleeing the scene, Cork Beo reports.

Gardaí have arrested a man, aged his early 20s, in connection with the assault and he is currently detained at a Cork Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Gardai are appealing for anyone with camera or dashcam footage to come foreword.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí at Bridewell are currently at the scene of a serious assault that occurred on Grand Parade, Cork City this evening, Wednesday 14th June 2023 at approximately 7.30p.m.
"One man, aged in his mid 20s, was seriously injured and has been removed from the scene to Cork University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
"Gardaí have arrested a man, aged in his early 20s, and he was conveyed to a Garda station in Cork city where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"The scene is currently preserved and investigations are ongoing.
"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this assault to come forward.
"Any road users and pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash cam) and were in the area of Grand Parade/Daunt Square between 7.15pm and 8pm this evening Wednesday 14th June, 2023 are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bridewell Garda station on 021 494 3330, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
