Man, 20s, dies following horror crash in Co Clare as gardai appeal for witnesses

A man in his 20s has died following a horror crash in Co. Clare on Friday night as gardai issue an appeal for witnesses this morning.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of the two-car collision on the R463 in Parteen, Co.Clare at around 10:00 pm last night.

The man in his 20s incurred fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His body has since been taken to the Morgue at University Hospital Limerick.

A second man, in his late teens, who was a passenger in the same vehicle as the deceased, was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of serious injuries.

The road is closed this morning so that a technical examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators can take place, and so, local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are asking that any witnesses come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) make it available to them.

A garda spokesperson said this morning: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the R463 in Parteen, Co.Clare on Friday 9th, September 2022.

“The collision, involving two cars, occurred shortly before 10 pm.

“A man, aged in his 20s, received fatal injuries from the collision and was later pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. His body has since been taken to the Morgue at University Hospital Limerick.

“A second man, in his late teens, and from the same vehicle, was taken to University Hospital Limerick to receive treatment for serious injuries.

“A technical examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators is scheduled to take place this morning. Local diversions remain in place.

“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.”
