The Manchester Evening News has learned that police are treating the incident as a fall from height. It follows a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police saying last night that they had been called to reports of a 20-year-old man ‘with serious life-threatening injuries outside of a premises on Whitworth Street West in Manchester’.
"Colleagues from NWAS also attended and sadly pronounced the man deceased. Road closures at the junction of Albion Street and Deansgate Locks are in place while investigations are ongoing," they added.
Witnesses said the events were ‘horrible’ and ‘strange’.
"I was passing the incident just after it happened and police were closing the road,” one witness said. “The person was getting CPR. It looked like a horrible incident."
Another added: "The air ambulance went low over my flat, I thought it was strange, and landed near the Owen St Towers."
