Man, 20, cut in half by forklift uses caterpillar-wheeled 'tank' to move around farm

A man who was cut in half by a forklift has started using a 'tank'-like machine to move around his farm.

Loren Schauers, 20, was left critically wounded in a tragic accident in 2019 when he fell 50ft off a bridge and was crushed by his own forklift vehicle.

He was then forced to undergo a hemicorporectomy — a radical amputation procedure which sees the patient lose all of their lower limbs — in order to save his life.

Now Loren has thousands of fans on YouTube who watch videos of how he has defied his injuries, with a latest clip of him moving around their 2.5 acre farm in a modified mobility scooter proving to be a hit.

Over 150,000 people have now watched the clip of him driving the machine, which is equipped with a large seat and caterpillar track wheels that allow Loren to move across challenging terrain.

Reacting to the striking design, one excited commenter wrote "Lauren's chair is a tank!", while another likeminded user said: "That is a cool chair. Love the tracks, haha. Looks like a tank! Sorry, the kid in me came out. Haha"

One especially tense moment shows Loren attempting to manoeuvre the vehicle through narrow gate posts, which he manages to do with only a small impact.

An impressed viewer responded by simply writing: "The coolest chair ever."

Loren shares his YouTube account with his devoted wife Sabia Reiche, 23, who has stayed by his side through all his health problems.

Due to Loren's mobility issues, Sabia has to perform many day to day tasks for Loren including changing his colostomy bags and showering him.

But despite the life the two have carved out for each other, they have become increasingly irritated by the single-minded focus of some members of the public.

Loren's operation led to the removal of his genitalia as his pelvis had been completely crushed.

Responding to a question about how they have sex on a Q&A, Loren's wife Sabia said the question was 'disrespectful'.

She said: "A question we get repeatedly is how do we have sex and how do we become intimate.

"That is a very personal question that we are never going to answer or allude to as it's very disrespectful.

"You wouldn't ask a random couple on the street how they have sex and just because our life circumstances are different, it doesn't give people the right to ask.
