Mamma Mia star Jeremy Irvine 'engaged to midwife girlfriend and has built them a home'

Mamma Mia's Jeremy Irvine is feeling all romantic again - the actor is engaged to his girlfriend, it has been claimed.

The 32-year-old has reportedly popped the question to his partner Jodie Spencer, who he has been with since 2016.

He is so smitten with the midwife that he is building their home and is doing a lot of the work himself.

Jeremy, who previously dated singing star Ellie Goulding, got down on one knee earlier this summer, according to reports.

But the pair have yet to set a date and are in no hurry to tie the knot.

Jodie has been flashing her diamond engagement ring, showing it off to friends and family.

A source says the pair are madly in love - and are now ready to make thing official.

“Jeremy proposed to Jodie a little while ago and they have been telling their family and close friends, it is a really exciting time for them both and they feel so lucky to have each other," they told The Sun.

“They aren’t rushing themselves down the aisle but plans are in motion. As a midwife with the NHS, her job is very hectic and was especially so during Covid, so the engagement has come at a lovely time.

"He has built a home for them both — literally building it with his bare hands in the first half of 2020 — and now they feel ready to settle down as a couple.”

Jeremy wowed fans as a youthful Sam Carmichael in the Mamma Mia sequel in 2018.

But he said he couldn't escape the nerves about the role, despite going on to earn rave reviews.

Speaking at the 2018 Giffoni Film Festival, he said: "You think with a $100m movie, there would be months of training. Nope!

"When you are singing in front of people it is incredibly naked. I got stage fright like never before.

"I like to think I can sing, but I won't be searching my name online for a while! At school, I had one line to sing in Les Miserables and it was parodied for years to come."
