Mamma Mia! original West End cast sing tribute in self-isolation to NHS and cast member with coronavirus

The original West End cast of Mamma Mia! joined together to sing a tribute to the NHS and a fellow company member who is unwell with coronavirus.

In the week that the long-running musical is celebrating 21 years since it first opened, original cast members took to a group video call to sing Thank You For The Music in tribute to Neal Wright.

Wright, who played Pepper when the show opened in the West End, has been hospitalised after contracting Covid-19. The original cast members, including Caroline Sheen, Scarlet Strallen, Siobhan Galloway, Lisa Stokke and Nigel Harman, sang together before sharing personal messages for Wright to get well soon.

They then sang a re-written version of the song in tribute to the NHS, changing the lyrics to say: “Thank you to our heroes, the care you’re giving, NHS you must keep living.”

The show is one of the many West End productions currently not running due to widespread theatre closures.
