Malta to scrap Covid-19 entry rules for all travellers on July 25

Malta is to drop all Covid-19 entry restrictions on July 25, authorities have confirmed. According to official travel site Visit Malta, all travellers, regardless of country of origin, can enter the country restriction free from the end of the month.

Until then, anyone visiting Malta must present proof of vaccination, recovery, or a negative test upon arrival. From July 25, Malta will no longer ask for official Covid-19 documents, reports SchengenVisaInfo.

A Visit Malta statement read: “As from July 25, 2022, people travelling to Malta without a vaccine certificate or a recovery certificate do not need to present a negative PCR/Rapid Test before arriving in Malta."

Maltese authorities confirmed they will lift travel entry rules, despite the rising number of Covid infections sweeping through Europe. Malta has recorded 3,769 new Coronavirus infection cases in the last seven days, according to figures from the World Health Organisation.

Data from The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control shows the country has seen a high vaccine uptake. 93.9 per cent of the entire adult population in Malta has received their primary vaccination and another 80.5 per cent has completed their first booster shot.

While Malta is to enforce its entry rules for another two weeks, the majority of EU countries have already scrap travel restrictions.

These countries include:

  • Austria

  • Belgium

  • Bulgaria

  • Czech Republic

  • Croatia

  • Cyprus

  • Denmark

  • Estonia

  • Finland

  • Greece

  • Germany

  • Hungary

  • Iceland

  • Ireland

  • Italy

  • Latvia

  • Lithuania

  • Norway

  • Poland

  • Portugal

  • Romania

  • Slovakia

  • Slovenia

  • Sweden

  • Switzerland

Travellers from all countries can enter the above nations without proof of vaccination, recovery or a test certificate.
