Malik Tillman to Rangers 'weeks in the making' as Ross Wilson lifts lid on Bayern Munich talks

The deal to bring Malik Tillman to Rangers was weeks in the making, according to sporting director Ross Wilson.

The midfielder has made the move to Ibrox on a season-long loan deal, with the option to buy. The 20-year-old is Gio van Bronckhorst 's fifth signing of the summer as the Light Blues continue their transfer business after a slow start to the window. He is the second recruit making his way to Govan from the Bundesliga after Rabbi Matondo left Schalke to become newbie number four earlier this week.

But Tillman's move was not something that came about quickly, with the Light Blues instead working on the deal for a 'number of weeks'. He was branded one of the hottest prospects in German football, with a number of other clubs reportedly tabling offers. However, the starlet decided a move to Glasgow was the best fit for him.

Following the signing announcement Ibrox recruitment chief Wilson, said: “We are pleased that amongst his many options Malik has chosen to become a Rangers player.

"He’s a talented young man, one that we have been working on for a number of weeks. Not only are we pleased to welcome Malik for the season ahead we have also secured an exclusive option to buy with Bayern Munich. We thank Bayern for their cooperation across all of our discussions.”

With the Ibrox gaffer and sporting director both pleased with their new recruit, it looks like the weeks of waiting will be worth it, though. Gio van Bronckhorst believes that the United States international has immense potential and is delighted to have secured his services for the upcoming campaign.
