Malik Tillman's surprise Rangers absence explained by Michael Beale as playmaker leads 3 Viaplay Cup Final doubts

Rangers boss Michael Beale has admitted Malik Tillman could miss the Viaplay Cup final after picking up a knock ahead of the clash with Livingston.

The Bayern Munich loanee has netted three goals in his last three games, including the controversial Scottish Cup strike against Partick Thistle that saw Beale allowed the Jags to walk the ball into the Ibrox net to level the game. Following an impressive run of form, the 20-year-old is missing from the Scottish Premiership showdown at the Tony Macaroni Arena as the Light Blues look to keep pressure on league leaders Celtic at the top of the table.

The missing US international has sparked major fears that he could miss the final with just over a week until Rangers face off against Ange Postecoglou's men at Hampden. Ahead of kick-off in West Lothian, Beale has moved to explain the decision to leave out Tillman on BBC Sportsound, noting John Lundstram and Ryan Jack could also miss the derby at the national stadium.

He said: "Tillman had a slight problem with his calf and his hamstring so add that to John Lundstram's ankle and Ryan Jack having a problem with his calf it's not ideal with the schedule we have got right now. We couldn't use them today. Hopefully the weekend off helps them be ready for next week, but that is by no means certain at this time."
