Malik Tillman Rangers latest as details of Bayern Munich cancellation fee revealed

Malik Tillman will not be playing for Rangers next season it has been revealed.

The American attacking midfielder spent the campaign on loan at Ibrox last term and was a huge hit after scoring 12 goals in 43 appearances.

Tillman was brought to the club by Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and current boss Michael Beale was also a huge fan and was keen to keep the 21-year-old heading into next season.

The Rangers Review has now detailed that Tillman will not be returning to Glasgow, with Bayern set to sell him elsewhere.

As part of the loan agreement for Tillman, Rangers were given first chance to buy him at the end of the season for a fee of £5million, but Bayern have pulled out of the deal in the hope they can land a bigger fee elsewhere.

As a result of this, Rangers will receive a cancellation fee of £1million to spend elsewhere as Beale continues to build his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Tillman appeared open to remaining at Rangers at the end of the season, explaining: “I’ve spoken to Michael Beale already and he said, ‘Just take your time. It’s your decision’. That’s what I’m going to do.

“The option is until the beginning of June or something so I still have three or four weeks to decide. I’m going to take my time because obviously it’s a big decision for me.

“It is still open. I am going to talk to Michael Beale in the coming days and see what he is saying and what the club is saying. Then I am going to speak to Bayern again and see what their plan is for me. And then I am going to decide.”

Beale added: "I have spoken to Malik. The conversation between the two clubs is still ongoing.

"I think there is a called planned for after the weekend between the two [clubs].

"But it was nice to see Malik at the weekend obviously winning another award for fine contributions made this season."

The Ibrox club confirmed the addition of Sam Lammers from Atalanta on a four-year deal last week.

The 26-year-old Dutch attacker is Beale’s fourth new recruit this summer, following the arrivals of Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland.
