Malik Tillman Rangers future claim as Michael Beale puts loanee in best of SPFL list

Malik Tillman is one of the strongest players in the league says Michael Beale but admits there's no rush over the youngster's immediate future.

Tillman has been a hit for Rangers since joining in the summer on loan from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, with Light Blues fans taking to the 20-year-old's skill and movement from the off. Tillman's loan switch to Glasgow does include a permanent clause said to be around £6m with the youngster previously telling of his love affair with the Ibrox side.

Yet new boss Beale admits there is 'no rush' over the future of the USA international, as well as his fellow countryman James Sands, who has had mixed fortunes since arriving from New York City last year.

He said: “James Sands has had a bit of a knock. He was listed on the bench for Dundee United but once we got to the stadium he didn’t feel right. He hasn’t trained this week. He’s had a slight muscle issue.

“To be fair to James he’s had to play mostly at centre-back, even going back to the PSV games which were fantastic results. He came in as a guy to play in midfield and can play as a centre back if required and he has done that more than we expected.

“So I would like to give him an opportunity to play in his more favoured position before we make any decision on that one.

“Malik at this moment is showing that he is one of the stronger players in the league. It’s fair to say that I’m working very hard with him on some areas of his game and he has responded really well. He is a key part of the team right now. Both situations are on-going and there is no rush."
