Trainer of former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has given his honest Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua prediction. Malik Scott believes Fury has the edge, but that if ‘AJ’ shows up at his best then he is more than capable of winning.
Malik Scott Gives Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua Prediction
When it comes to boxing, Malik Scott is a man that knows a thing or two. The American is not only the current trainer and coach of former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, but he is also a former successful fighter himself.
During his heavyweight boxing career Scott built a record of 38-3-1, sharing the ring with the likes of Luis Ortiz, Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder to name but a few.
Now, the American coaches and trains his former opponent ‘The Bronze Bomber’, and has done since Wilder’s trilogy fight with Tyson Fury. As a man who has bee as close to the action as anyone with ‘The Gypsy King’, it’s fair to say that Malik Scott has a better view than most on Fury.
With that in mind, Scott has weighed in with his opinion on a potential Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua clash. Despite both fighters being past their best and the fight not being what it once was, it is a fight that British boxing fans still crave.
It looks like fans may finally get their wish in 2025, with a potential Wembley Stadium clash in the summer between Anthony Joshua and fellow Englishman Tyson Fury.
Although the Fury vs Joshua fight isn’t what it once was, it remains one of the biggest in British boxing history and has the potential to break British pay-per-view records if it were to happen.
Everyone has their own opinions about the proposed heavyweight match-up, and Malik Scott is no different. The 44-year-old believes that you have to give the edge to Fury based on recent form, but admits that ‘AJ’ is more than capable of knocking ‘The Gypsy King’ out with one punch.
Malik Scott: ‘We Have To Go With Tyson’
There will of course be plenty of people on the side of Anthony Joshua, with promoter Eddie Hearn still insistent that his man beats ‘The Gypsy King’ all day long, despite suffering a humbling knockout to Daniel Dubois last time out.
On the other hand, Tyson Fury would probably have more backers. Although he lost back-to-back fights to Oleksandr Usyk, promoter Frank Warren insists he won them both, and would be very confident of his man defeating ‘AJ’ if the fight were to happen in 2025.
Similarly, Malik Scott admits he would have to favour Fury based off recent performances, but wouldn’t rule Joshua out whatsoever:
“If we’re going off the last couple of fights, we have to go with Tyson,” Scott revealed in a recent interview with The Stomping Ground.
“But it depends which ‘AJ’ turns up. I also think styles make fights. And Tyson is not who he was three years ago.
“To me, ‘AJ’ had a bad outing against Dubois, but I’ve seen ‘AJ’ come back from bad outings too and look impressive. ‘AJ’ would give anybody hell.
“The Anthony Joshua that fought Pulev – real big man’s style, fighting not tall, but fighting long and imposing himself from a distance. It’s a good fight, it’s something I would definitely look forward to and be geeked out about.”
Tyson Fury would likely be the favourite with the best UK boxing betting sites, should a fight with British counterpart Anthony Joshua go ahead in 2025. Time will tell whether the fight happens or not, but all fans certainly still hope so!
