Mali vs Equatorial Guinea - LIVE!
The Africa Cup of Nations last-16 concluded as Equatorial Guinea moved into the quarter-finals with a 6-5 penalty shootout win over Mali.
After 120 minutes of action failed to produce a goal, the match went to penalties. Emilio Nsue had his effort saved, but the shootout was level again after Massadio Haidara’s miss.
Pablo Ganet had the chance to win it for Equatorial Guinea and send them through, but Ibrahim Mounkoro guessed correctly and denied the midfielder to prolong the shootout.
Both sides were perfect from that moment onwards, until Mali centre-back Falaye Sacko stepped up and had his team penalty saved by Jesus Owono, and Equatorial Guinea could start their wild celebrations once the referee confirmed the goalkeeper had not left his line.
They will face Senegal in the quarter-finals, while Mali are the latest side to be sent packing by a team that went into the last 16 as an underdog.
