Derrick White’s excellent play in the second half of this season has had fans increasingly clamoring for the Colorado native to get more floor time with the Boston Celtics, and in recent games that clamoring seems to have paid off, with head coach Joe Mazzulla leaning on White more than he has to great effect.
And White’s teammates have been noticing as well, as was evidenced by comments from reserve floor general Malcolm Brogdon after blowing out the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. “This game is all about confidence, and I think you’ve seen Derrick’s confidence grow throughout the season,” Brogdon via CLNS Media.
“Now he’s playing at an all-time high,” added the Virginia alum. “He’s playing at a super high level, shooting the ball with confidence, playing with so much fluidity.”
“He’s one of those guys out there that makes the game easier for everybody because he knows how to play,” suggested Brogdon. “He has a great feel, so he’s incredibly important to this team on both sides of the ball.”
“I think we’re seeing his offense right now, but the first half of the season, it was his defense people were talking about. He’s incredibly versatile and can impact the game and a lot of ways.”
