Malaysia's Home Minister has announced plans to expand the Film Censorship Board's authority to include video streamers, in addition to theatrical releases. The country has a history of demanding cuts to films that touch on sensitive topics such as religion and homosexuality. Hollywood films like 'Thor' and 'Lightyear' have been banned in the past. Local director Amanda Nell Eu criticized the censorship of her film 'Tiger Stripes.'

Meanwhile, Japanese broadcaster TBS Holdings has made a significant investment in Tokyo-based VFX production company Megalis. The partnership aims to enhance content appeal globally and aligns with TBS Group's long-term vision.

Chinese cinema ticketing agency Maoyan reported a three-fold increase in net profits in 2023 as audiences returned to theaters post-COVID restrictions. The total box office in China saw a significant year-over-year increase, with local movies contributing substantially to the revenue.

Winsing Animation, known for 'Jonny Jetboy' and 'GG Bond,' has launched its first anime-style series 'Shadows of the Void.' The sci-fi anime, set to premiere on Bilibili, incorporates rich Chinese cultural influences and traditional martial arts elements.
