Malaika Arora beats Chitrangda Singh, Rhea Chakraborty in the war of ramp at fashion week

The ongoing fashion week saw three divas - Malaika Arora, Chitrangda Singh and Rhea Chakraborty sashaying down the ramp on the same day, with fans pitting them against each other to vote for the hottest showstopper. And, no prizes for guessing that Malaika Arora got the topspot!

A fashion presentation by designer and ace stylist Eshaa Amiin has always been a colourful, fun filled, look at clothes. It was little wonder therefore that Eshaa’s collection “Afro Rhapsody” showcased at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI was an energetic, vibrant dose of her personalised style sensibilities. The collection came alive with the punk culture of that region in all its exotic glory.

Colours have always been the leitmotif of the designer’s offering and this season too, Eshaa allowed her creativity to meander through bright, rainbow hues as well as showstopping prints. Her silhouettes were myriad as she catered to buyers who long for a variety of options that will take them through the day and into those after dark soirées. Fashion followers will be delighted by the assortment of dresses, comfy pants, co-ord sets along with drapes for formal wear.

Eshaa’s embellishments were as adventurous as her designs, so the beadwork was intricate, the braiding imaginative, cording looked complex, while the fringes were inspired by South African culture, which also inspired the title of the collection. For Eshaa, fabric manipulation was of prime importance to achieve diverse surface texturing. Making an impact on the ramp were the stylishly constructed pants, blouses and funky dresses that added a colourful touch to the line.

Looking ultra-glam, beautiful Chitrangda Singh closed the show wearing a multi-hued, printed, backless maxi with a fringed hemline and thigh high slit. To add more touches of colour the tasselled, fringed cape was the perfect addition.

For the fun-loving fashion followers who want some vibrant, conversation stoppers in their wardrobe, Eshaa Amiin’s “Afro Rhapsody” will strike all the right fashion notes.

Eshaa Amiin added, “For this presentation, I drew inspiration from my travels and the abundant richness of the culture that South Africa encapsulates. My label this time worked towards creating a head-turning statement with vibrant colours, bold prints and string-strong silhouettes for the modern women. All three designers alongside were very impressive and had distinctive style. The experience has been absolutely wonderful and I’m excited for the journey ahead.

The city of Pondicherry has evoked visions of beauty, art and heritage for centuries. It has also been a creative source of inspiration for designers who love the colours and lifestyle of the city. The ‘GUAPA’ label created by Reby Jindal is renowned for its colourful resort wear that has been a favourite choice of holiday makers. Little wonder then that the brand paid creative homage to Pondicherry with the “P.O.N.D.I.” collection showcased at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI which was a stylish love letter to the fun filled destination.

The coastal lagoons and their serene blue waters of the Bay of Bengal proved to be a creative drive for the label. The pristine French cottages encircled with the glorious bougainvillea plants have always added to the colour story for designers.

Of course, the brand creator also wandered through the meandering colourful streets of the French quarter to draw more stylish visions for the ensembles. With resort wear as its foundation, the collection moved from easy breezy silhouettes to relaxed comfort wear that was dreamt up in sustainable, breathable fabrics. For beach wear glamour there were vibrant floral prints merged with French checks, quaintly inspired by the cacti of Pondicherry.

Men’s wear followed the theme of the show with colourful printed shirts, shorts, beach robes, tunics and lungis.

Making a stunning entry on the ramp, was lovely Rhea Chakraborty who looked amazing as she ended the show wearing a colourful, fluid, printed, backless maxi with side cut-outs and a dramatic floor sweeping sheer veil

When it is time for that long-awaited resort holiday, style mavens will go for the “P.O.N.D.I” collection by GUAPA to remain on top of the fashion charts.

Reby J Kumar, Founder of GUAPA added, “This collection is the culmination of my reminiscing of the coastal lagoons with blue waters of the Bay of Bengal, the French cottages surrounded by bougainvillea shrubs and the colourful streets of the French quarters. It is a love letter to Pondicherry painting a romantic picture of the breezy picturesque surroundings of a city I dearly love. I look forward to welcoming everyone to this beautiful escape, a collection very close to my heart."

Limerick

‘Limerick’ by Abirr N’ Nanki has always been inspired by unconventional aspects of the world in the field of art. At Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI, the brand’s collection “Artopia” drew its creative ideation from the glorious history of India’s artistic heritage.

This inspiration was translated delicately in the form of motifs, intricate detailing, and the finest 3D embroidery. When inspirations are beautiful paintings from the legendary seventh to ninth centuries of Rajasthan, the treatment had to be re-imagined and re-invented to meet the sartorial demands of contemporary buyers.

This fashionable journey was executed with great pizazz by paying careful attention to all aspects that go into a best-selling collection. Limerick selected luxuriously fluid organza and silk crepe, which were embellished with fine detailed artwork. Dipping the colour brush into hues that matched the grandeur of the collection, the brand opted for varying shades of blush pink, powder blue, brown and beige.

Silhouettes were easy on the eyes and body for comfortable summer wear comprising co-ord sets and some luxurious saris.

The very glamorous Malaika Arora dazzled on the ramp, as the perfect showstopper for the Limerick label, when she glided in a printed, figure hugging maxi skirt, tiny bralette and a flowing, long cape.

The ‘Limerick’ label by Abirr n’ Nanki orchestrated a great collection “Artopia”, which offers fashion followers a perfect mix of fashion, style and heritage art.

Abirr N’ Nanki added, “Bringing Artopia to life has been a very unique and an enriching journey. The translation of the past to the present has been like no other and we really hope the audience gives it the same love as they have to our previous collections!”
