Malahide Castle nightmare for Gerry Cinnamon fans after Dart disaster

Gerry Cinnamon took to the stage at Malahide Castle last night as thousands of fans piled into the park to enjoy the open-air concert.

But after the show ended and crowds of people began to make their way home, disaster struck.

Those hoping to catch the DART back home were left ‘stranded for hours’ after the train broke down on the tracks.

Gardai were then called in to deal with the stranded passengers and escorted disgruntled fans down the rail tracks at around 12am Monday morning.

Taking to Twitter to voice their frustrations, one concertgoer said: “

The dart service broke down, 12am garda escorted us down the rail tracks, f***ing terrible. @GerryCinnamon you were amazing but

@IrishRail you left us stranded in Malahide for hours.”

Another said: “Great craic when you’re trying to get home from Malahide and then everyone has to get off the train and walk the tracks. #irishrail #Malahide #Malahidedart

The news comes after concertgoers were left waiting almost two hours as they tried to exit the carpark at Malahide Castle following The Killer’s concert last Tuesday.

The chaos no doubt prompted less people to drive to last night’s show as they opted for the rail service instead, in an attempt to avoid delays.

The Killer’s fans were left angered by the carpark’s lack of organisation as they took to Twitter.

One concertgoer wrote: “I walked through #MalahideCastle during the gig and saw all the cars parked there.

“You could tell instantly it was going to be mayhem at the end of the night. Maybe consider the DART in future?”

Another said: “The #MalahideCastle Killers gig was wonderful, but the chaos in the car park afterwards was not.

“Hopefully they have improved the flow /put more staff around to help people tonight. Took me nearly two hours to drive the 24km home afterwards.”

A third wrote: “Great gig last night by @thekillers but the carpark afterwards was a nightmare!

“No traffic management it became a free for all and at one stage we were like bumper cars!! Dreading the thoughts of having to do it all again on Sat night.”

A fourth issued a stern warning to anyone heading to tonight’s concert, writing: “One piece of advice for tonight @thekillers, don’t bring your car… genuinely quicker walking.”
